For the Mitre10 project, NZAV delivered a comprehensive audio system upgrade built around the Harvey 8x8 open architecture audio processor. This flexible platform enabled a tailored solution offering advanced control, seamless zone management, and an intuitive user experience.
Key Features:
-
Custom Web-Based Control Interface:
A fully customized web-based GUI was implemented, providing store operators with real-time access to volume and zone controls from any device (laptop or phone). This system replaces the previous fixed-interface model and simplifies daily operation without unnecessary controls. -
4-Zone Paging Microphone:
A paging microphone was installed at the service counter, mirroring the setup in other Mitre10 stores. This feature—missed in the original specifications—is essential for high-frequency use by multiple staff members and provides reliable, wired communication across four zones. -
Wireless Microphone System:
Three Sennheiser handheld wireless microphones with remote aerials were installed, ensuring robust coverage across the entire store. Operators can easily assign or restrict microphones to specific audio zones as required. -
Café Zone Integration:
Although not originally scoped, the café area was added as a dedicated audio zone, based on best practices from the Hornby store.-
8 high-quality speakers installed
-
Wall-mounted controller with volume and 4-source selection
-
Ability to play store-wide BGM or a local source
-
Full system integration for paging and microphone announcements as needed
-
-
Customer Assistance Call Buttons:
NZAV also supplied and installed customer call buttons at the end of key aisles, allowing customers to request assistance with a simple button press. This addition enhances the in-store customer service experience and ensures timely staff response. -
Professional Voice Recordings:
As part of the call button system, NZAV worked with store manager Anton to produce high-quality voice prompts. These were recorded in a professional studio environment and processed to ensure clarity, warmth, and intelligibility across the store’s audio system.
